Rhoda's Story: A Fresh Start for a Mom Who Never Attended School

Rhoda is a member of a community savings group in Gorom, South Sudan. Like most women in South Sudan, she never had the opportunity to attend school. She recently learned to read and write and developed basic business skills through a financial literacy and education program.

Previously, Rhoda cultivated a small plot of land by hand and made traditional beer. After joining the Gorom community group, she stopped making beer and started a business selling peanuts and peas. She's now involved in her church and has been able to save and build a house with iron sheets. She's also built a 2nd house which she rents for additional income. Rhoda says "there are no more problems in my house."
